WORK . . .

Every day we have to do it. Scripture says you do not eat if you do not/will not “WORK”. But what does it really mean to “WORK”?

Surely we weren’t born to spend 8-12 hours of our days/nights away from the place we pay to live in, and the people we live with, to go somewhere else to help others make money. But it’s what millions do at all hours of the day and night, 365 days a year.

“WORK” has lots of meanings, and most involve an exchange of time, to complete tasks, for a set amount of money. But there is also “WORK” that doesn’t quite fit that definition, and in some cases involves an inordinate amount of time, AND there is no immediate (or any) money forthcoming! But the intention and hope is always there.

“Working online” is an exertion of energy and effort to create something saleable out of thin air without an immediate payday. The intention and hope is people will want to buy what is being offered. But there is no guarantee that happens, so we who “work online” persist anyway until it does. Otherwise, the only other alternative we have is to get a “real” J-O-B!  LOL

As I contemplate my “WORK” options every morning I am blessed to wake up, I know driving Uber pays immediate money. But it’s raining this morning, and I’d rather not drive in the rain. However, there are people who do not have the option to not go to their J-O-B because it’s raining. So, I can decide to help those who must show up somewhere by getting them safely to their “WORK”.

Above all, however, is how grateful I am that I do not HAVE to be somewhere by a certain time, doing tasks that have no real value to me, around people I’d probably rather not be around, all so I can take home whatever others choose to compensate me, based on their agenda, instead of my own.

That’s FREEDOM to me! But it also means uncertainty with regard to finances. Because no matter how much I drive, there’s no predictable amount that I can be assured of earning daily, and no way to know how many hours it will take to achieve my target goal. It’s all totally up to me as to how much I can, and do, earn. I LOVE that I can set an income goal daily and usually meet it. It’s just tougher on days like today when it is raining and expected to continue through the afternoon. I’m just not feeling in a hurry to get out there!

SO, my other “WORK” option is doing what I’m doing right now . . . writing this blog post. There’s no immediate money attached to it, but it’s part of ‘working online’. Putting one’s self out there, by any means necessary, hoping to capture eyeballs, and interest people who could benefit from what is being offered.

That’s what we, who “work online”, do. And it’s true, some do it much better than others. But I also know that the more energy and effort (the “WORK”) put in, the more likely our intentions and hopes become reality. We absolutely have to believe that. Otherwise, we have to go get a ‘real job’. And at my age, I have too much evidence that it’s not going to happen in a timely or painless manner, and certainly not for the amount of income I’m looking to earn.

Therefore, I will continue to split my waking hours between driving Uber for the immediate cash, and doing all I know to do online to bring awareness to my existence, experience, expertise and excitement about helping those who could see a benefit to working with me.

So . . . How might I be of assistance to You?

Let’s Talk and find out!
