It has been months since I last posted. Truthfully, I spent the summer dealing with my then 19 year old son, trying to help him find the right path for his life. It was not pretty. BUT, I’m ever so grateful that he’s going through the process of learning what it takes to be a Man . . . at Parris Island, SC. In approximately 47 days, I will see “The Few, The Proud” — and one of them will be my 20 year old United States Marine!
Friends have wondered what was wrong with me, what with the war and all. But they weren’t living my life, and I did what I felt was necessary to save his. The Marine Corps was not his choice (no military actually), but then again, he’d pretty much run out of options because of the previous choices he had made. But I’m thankful that he finally came to realize that he’d been made an offer he simply couldn’t refuse. As the saying goes . . . “When Mama’s not happy, NOBODY is happy.” 🙂
