If you have any aspirations at all for having an online presence, particularly if you are involved in a business, at some point you are going to need to have your OWN website. Not a company replicated site or one where you have a profile like everyone else.
Now while there are countless people who can build a website for you, my personal suggestion is that you learn to do it yourself. Yes, it will be time-consuming in the beginning, but at least you will have total control over it, rather than having to rely on someone else to make any future changes to it. Besides, no one knows better than you what you want you to convey.
For the first year or two that I was online, I didn’t understand what HTML was, or why I needed to know it. And I had a hard time figuring out how to learn it. It doesn’t matter what it stands for, but you do need to know that it is the coding that makes up most websites. You can usually view the source code (HTML) of websites by going to the View menu in your browser (that would be how you view the Internet) and clicking Page Source in Firefox, or Source in Internet Explorer.
When I first looked at the coding of a web page, I was thoroughly intimidated and knew I’d never figure it out. But because I really wanted to learn how to build my own website, and knew I didn’t have the money to pay someone to do it for me, I was forced to learn how HTML worked.
So, if you don’t know anything about HTML, I recommend you go to any of these resources:
W3Schools online tutorial (where I learned HTML);
You CAN learn what you need to know without spending any money. The only cost involved is your TIME and how much you decide to devote to your self-directed education is totally up to you. Personally, I enjoy learning new things, especially if it’s not costing me any money to do so.
Another way to learn HTML and build your own website at the same time is to download Free Website Builder. Not only will you be able to easily create your own website with a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) interface, but you can teach yourself HTML at the same time by looking at the Source Code as you use the software.
